Here’s a small checklist to help you start your home-based tax business…
- Enroll in www.theincometaxschool.com (beginner and/or advanced tax courses)
- Purchase and read Peoples’ Tax Practice Management Manuals
- Consider attending Peoples’ Live or Virtual Strategic Planning Retreat for Tax Business Owners
- Consider joining the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) www.natptax.com
- Register with the IRS as a Tax Preparer
- Apply for IRS Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN) so you can e-file tax returns
- Apply for IRS Tax Preparer Identification Number (PTIN) to protect your social security number
- Order tax preparer software (we have recommendations)
- If desired, choose a fast refund product bank - your tax preparer software should have options
